Greening Cellular

e-Cycle is tenacious about recycling and providing safe and secure disposal of smartphones, cellphones and iPads. These products contain precious metals that are sent to Abington Reldan Metals, LLC that reclaims 100% of the precious metals.

e-Cycle offers three tiers applicable to all iPhone models. Their online quote tool assesses the tiers depending upon the selection of yes or no answers to questions in the tool. They do not use subcontractors. E-Cycle has an onsite data deletion and quality assurance team. The end-of-life devices are shredded on site. SIM cards are shredded in a separate shredder to ensure the data is destroyed.

All reused smartphones are put through a rigorous data deletion and quality-assurance process. They are then sold to refurbishers in Asia and developing countries who resell on the local marketplace where the technologies can be reused.

There is no charge for e-Cycle's services. They offer free shipping to enterprise clients using FedEx. They also accept all phones, not just smartphones. E-Cycle pays enterprise clients for phones that still retain value. All others wireless devices and accessories are destroyed and sent to Abington Reldan Metals for recycling at no charge to the customer.

Paulie Anthony is Director of Marketing for e-Cycle and he said e-Cycle offers differential advantages and compliance:

* No other company does what we do in terms of data deletion. We overwrite each device three times and each goes through a rigorous verification process, where other companies may simply do a "spot check" or may not verify at all. We hit secret menus on the phones that still contain data that normal factory resets do not address.

* We stand up to US. Department of Defense Directive 5220.22-M and 5220.22-E, NIST Special Publication 800-88, NAVSO P-5239-26 (new Naval Academy Verification Standards Rewrite for Flash Based Hard Drives)

* We sign HIPAA-related compliance agreements with our healthcare clients who are confident in our process. We work with the largest healthcare organizations in the U.S.

* We work with more than 7,000 businesses and organizations, including 16 of the Fortune 20

According to the founders Chris and Tonia Irion, e-Cycle has recycled or resold more than 4 million phones from more than 5,000 organizations since 2005. They've prevented thousands of tons of electronic waste reaching the landfills, salvaged precious metals for reuse, and prevented unnecessary energy emissions. Through their enterprise buyback program, e-Cycle has paid out more than $10 million that went back to customer's telecom budgets.
