In late June and early July, No Jitter Research fielded the third of its 2015 surveys to gauge attitudes among our end user audience. This time out, we wanted to know what you think about using the Cloud to meet your enterprise's communications needs. In all, 215 people responded to this survey.
We asked about two distinct models for using public-cloud resources to support enterprise communications. First we asked about Hosted Communications, defined as a service in which, "The provider owns, operates and maintains the software in facilities it owns or buys capacity on." Then we asked about a model under which, "your enterprise owns, operates and maintains the software on a cloud-based hardware platform owned and operated by a third-party provider." As you'll see from the next slide, the latter scenario was not widely adopted, and so the rest of this Slideshow, after that point, addresses the Hosted scenario that we found to be more prevalent. Several of the slides in this Slideshow compare the way large enterprises -- defined as 5,000 or more employees -- view Cloud Communications, in comparison to the view of those working at enterprises that employ fewer than 5,000. Some of the differences were notable.
