Apple iPhone Applications

It's been over a year since I wrote iMania and discussed the launch of AppLists that only took 3 days for Apple's iPhones. Today, there are over 3,000 applications for the iPhones, spanning the spectrum from games to utilities. Whether or not you agree on their platform of "Apple, Apple, or Apple as the choice" as one reader wrote - still, you do have a choice of what you can do with the iPhone such as teasing those Microsoft users feeling blue with - this song's for you.Below are a few of my iPhone App picks and a little detail about each. Some apps slow down the iPhone performance and lower battery life, such as the GPS InstaMapper that I promptly removed after a couple of days. A few days later, Apple released 2.1 software to fix bugs. The software also improves battery life, decreases dropped calls, and improves performance of the iPhone. I did download the update and my iPhone is much improved.

Still, I wonder about not just the iPhone but other smartphones:

* Will the iPhone and other smartphones fill a gap for users without laptops? * Are the smartphones secure enough? * Is voice quality less important than data access?

FREE picks

MeetBubble - this App is for those that need a bullet level to make sure that wall jacks are straight, but with a little entertainment.

PageOnce - very cool App that creates a page of single button access to multiple accounts. Social, email, travel, finance and even utilities.

RDP - is remote desktop (Mocha Remote Desktop Lite) and this is cool. Using Microsoft remote desktop settings to access other sites via your iPhone. Of course I set up our site and getting in was fast. Accessing the gear is slow but if I'm on the beach or out seeking pink snow on Grasshopper Glacier, who cares (as long as I can get connected).
