SIP Trunking – a technology that can lead to great savings and personal success, or the root of great troubles?
Over the years I've heard some pretty incredible stories - from massive trunk consolidation that resulted in fantastic savings to nightmare technical issues that seem to nearly ruin all hope. According to the 2014 SIP School Survey on SIP Trunking deployments, only 17% of respondents indicated they "Never had a problem" when deploying SIP Trunking, while another 67% reported any one of a number of PBX, SBC, service provider or provisioning issues.
The path to victory and success with SIP Trunking seems to be paved by a number of best practices that often get overlooked or ignored, believing that SIP and the offerings from the service providers are simple PRI replacements. They aren't.
