Simplicity in the New World of Video Conferencing

Video conferencing was historically available in only a small number of highly integrated meeting rooms. And there weren't enough video conferencing rooms to go around, so video was largely an executives-only tool.

Over the past few years, however, video conferencing technology and its use have evolved in many ways. In August 2015, Wainhouse Research surveyed end users of video conferencing (VC) and asked them how they feel about a range of video conferencing-related statements. Approximately 170 users responded as follows:

The above findings around technology enhancements and improved access, combined with ongoing changes in the global business environment and the workforce, has enabled video conferencing to finally take its place as a core business tool. The chart below illustrates a few more conclusions drawn from survey responses:

Every single day, companies around the world depend on video-enabled meetings to empower their people, better service their clients, and remain competitive in a global marketplace.

As video conferencing usage has grown, so have the expectations of video conferencing users. Today's workers expect more than just a strong video conferencing experience. They expect -- and frankly need -- a full collaboration experience that includes voice, video, and content.

To address these needs, organizations require solutions that are cost-effective, globally distributed to ensure a strong experience for users around the world, redundant to maximize reliability, and highly scalable. And all of this must be accomplished in a manner that is easy to purchase, easy to deploy, easy to manage, and most of all, easy to use.
