Exploring Emerging Video Technologies

The Emerging Video Technologies session at Enterprise Connect Orlando always provides attendees with insights into what's coming down the pike in terms of new products, solutions, and/or architectures -- and the 2015 event promises to maintain that tradition.

During this year's session, taking place on Tuesday, March 14, we will look at four to five specific examples and how they might change the way we work over the next two to four years. Among the topics we'll be discussing are:

  • Cloud services: While cloud services for video have been around for more than two decades, they are still very much on people's minds these days. Last year at Enterprise Connect we explored some of the new technologies for video bridging; this year's session will include a look at software that enables channel partners, along with network and conferencing service providers, to launch their own cloud services using back-end software that is multi-tenant and multi-hardware platform capable. The technology also makes enterprise-based private cloud services feasible, something of increasing interest in financial, healthcare, and government markets.
  • Huddle rooms: Huddle rooms and video-enabling huddle rooms is one of the main concerns today of enterprises studying how to transform the workplace to meet the needs of the emerging workforce. If video is to become the new voice, then the price performance of room video conferencing systems needs dramatic improvement. This session will include a brief discussion of a new, very elegant huddle room system and the tradeoffs made in architectural design, audio and video performance, interoperability, and the user experience.
  • Video on demand: Video isn't just for real-time communications. Video on demand plays an important role in training, recruiting, product announcements, and meeting archives. With so many video sources and uses, video content management is rapidly becoming a major focus of IT and line of business managers. The session will take a quick look at what is changing in this market/application and how these changes might affect enterprises both large and small.
