Vendor Layoffs Continue; Avaya Now
Via the Newark Star-Ledger, Avaya is laying off 400 people, after also eliminating 600 positions via attrition since the start of the year. Earlier this year, Nortel and Siemens had both announced layoffs of more than 2,000 workers each.
Avaya spokesperson Deb Kline told me the company's action was part of continuing process of streamlining as Avaya focuses on Unified Communications and contact centers, though the layoffs aren't focused in any particular geography, technology or job type.
