VoiceCon Video: Cisco-WebEx
Wow, if you want to see 2 people cover a lot of territory in 6 minutes--check out this video with Fritz Nelson of TechWeb TV and Alan Cohen, VP of Mobility Solutions, Cisco. Alan definitely came prepared with plenty of provocative ideas to toss out. Some reaction in the jump:
Alan draws a distinction between communications capabilities that are "consistent and coherent" vs. the notion of "seamlessness": "It's not going to be seamless; nothing's actually seamless. But you will have a coherent experience and that's an important differentiation."
Alan also says that the Cisco acquisition of WebEx will lead to an integration where certain Unified Communications capabilities will be available in a SaaS model: "You'll start to think about UC capabilities the way you think about widgets."
Alan also gets into some of the nuances of presence, and he makes reference to Cisco Unified Application Environment or CUAE, which are its APIs that can be used as a platform for developers to build UC apps that run on Cisco UC Manager.
